About Steve Mengelkoch
I started out in paid search in 2008, moved into full-stack web development and SEO at Final Web Design in 2011, spent a stretch doing enterprise application engineering in React and Vue.js at Optum, Express Image and Life Extension, and since 2020 have been lead front-end designer and developer at Fantasy Web Design alongside my ongoing role at Final Web Design in Miami.
What I like is the part most people skip: the audit before the redesign, the schema nobody sees, the 400 KB you can cut from a homepage without changing how it looks. Good design is the visible half of the job. The other half is making it fast, findable and maintainable long after handoff.
I hold a Business & Marketing degree from the University of Minnesota, plus professional certifications including Google Ads and a Google Partners badge.
